Betsy DeVos, education secretary, is second cabinet member to resign.

Training Secretary Betsy DeVos submitted her resignation in a letter to President Trump on Thursday, saying she would step down on Friday.

“We must be highlighting and celebrating your administration’s many accomplishments on behalf of the American folks,” she wrote within the letter, which was obtained by The New York Instances. “As an alternative, we’re left to wash up the mess attributable to violent protesters overrunning the U.S. Capitol in an try to undermine the folks’s enterprise.”

“That habits was unconscionable for our nation,” she added. “There is no such thing as a mistaking the affect your rhetoric had on the state of affairs, and it’s the inflection level for me.”

Ms. DeVos was one of many first cupboard secretaries to condemn the violent mob on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

“The peaceable switch of energy is what separates American consultant democracy from banana republics,” Ms. DeVos stated in a statement posted to Twitter after the storming of the Capitol. “The work of the folks should go on.”

Ms. DeVos joins a rising exodus of administration officers within the closing days of the Trump administration. She is the second cabinet-level official to resign after former secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao, resigned earlier Thursday.
